As the seasons drift onwards, Jake pursues his own eccentric and occasionally fantastical pursuits, isolated from other human existence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/markwebber.org.uk\/experimenta\/2011\/10\/19\/two-years\/rivers-twoyears-1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-548\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-548\" title=\"Ben Rivers: TwoYears at Sea\" src=\"https:\/\/markwebber.org.uk\/experimenta\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Rivers-TwoYears-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"435\" height=\"243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/markwebber.org.uk\/experimenta\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Rivers-TwoYears-1.jpg 435w, https:\/\/markwebber.org.uk\/experimenta\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Rivers-TwoYears-1-300x167.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Wood is carefully harvested, a raft is painstakingly built to go fishing, a caravan floats up into the tree canopy as Jake sleeps within. The viewer sees Jake in his entirety \u2013 as he eats, sleeps, showers, living out a life completely on his own terms; one which he spent two years working at sea to realise. Snippets of Jake\u2019s implied past linger at the film\u2019s margins in old photographs. Snatches of song create mesmerising interludes and mingle with the sounds of the woods.<\/p>\n<p>Monochrome and near wordless, Ben Rivers\u2019 beautiful, meditative feature exists somewhere as bracingly free as its protagonist.
