Discussions will address the emergence of an underground movement, its international significance, and the relations between avant-garde film and mainstream cinema, experimental video, painting, sculpture, performance and photography.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Speakers include <b>David Curtis<\/b> from the AHRB Centre for British Film and Television Studies, film historians <b>Ian Christie<\/b>, <b>Al Rees<\/b>, and others. An artists\u2019 panel featuring <b>Peter Gidal<\/b>, <b>Anthony McCall<\/b>, <b>Lis Rhodes<\/b> and <b>Chris Welsby<\/b> will be chaired by <b>Michael Newman<\/b> (Principal Lecturer in Research, Central Saint Martin\u2019s School of Art). Plus selected special screenings.
